How to Be Single by Liz Tuccillo has a simple premise: This is an entire book about how women just let ourselves be walked on and how men are -everywhere in the world- cheating, lying, scum that women must simply accept. Considering that Tuccillo traveled extensively to many of the destinations mentioned in this book, it is interesting to hear the perspective of other women around the world on the subject of being single. She has 4 single friends, and she decides to travel the world to write a book about single women in different countries.
I loved Julie’s voice. Through their journeys, all these women fight to redefine their vision of love, happiness, and a fulfilled life. Julie and her friends need time away from it all, so they all travel to Iceland. Julie falls in love, gets her tucillo broken, sees tucci,lo world, and learns more than she ever dreamed possible.
This book is a disappointment. Tuccillo co-wrote “He’s Just not that Into You,” which should give you some indication of the combo insight and humor awaiting you here. What I loved here, and made me laugh over and over, is how nutty we get at a certain age when we haven’t married. She had a really great time. And I found it fascinating.
From Paris to Rio to Llz, Bali, Beijing, Mumbai, and Reykjavik, Julie falls in love, gets her lkz broken, sees the world, and learns more than she ever dreamed possible. I am wondering why she even bothered leaving her hotel when “researching” – somehow I think speaking to less than a dozen people in an entire country does not count as thorough investigation.
