Your new EICO Model Resistance-Capacitance-. Comparator Bridge, was designed to measure practically all resistances and capacitances. The article currently covers the EICO series, PACO C, Knight KG, Heathkit C-2 and C-3, etc. (More models will be added on an ongoing basis as I.

PF was added to these testers years ago before high efficiency electrolytics came around, and servicemen noticed bad filters tended to get hot. Mine tops out at VDC. All of these models are almost identical in functionality and circuitry.
Most testers you dial up the test voltage, push the leakage button and wait for the eye tube to open which seems like forever. I bought the Eico B to play with. I have recapped and redone some wiring and 950bb the unit.

Agree with the others that you should not mess with the bridge caps unless they are actually bad, as this can lead to calibration nightmares. You can use the checker to test its own capacitors by connecting some brand-new plastic film capacitors that are approximately mid-scale on each range except the “D” range, for which you’ll have to use a eicoo electrolytic to the test terminals. While I wait for my precision caps to arrive, I can finish rest of the tasks, replace the last few 0.
Previous topic Next topic. We do not provide free personalized troubleshooting. NRI Professional model The idea is the bridge balances when the series resistance of the reference capacitor match the lossy part of the capacitor under test.
I don’t think it is necessary to change the caps in the bridge section unless that range is inoperative or way off. You could google it to find more details.
950h May we help you read better. For those caps, I’ll use the closest tolerance parts I can get as long as the price is reasonable.

I’m not sure how long the shaft is on your potentiometer but I’ve got this pointer in my eici box if you’re interested. A great piece of test gear, can often be found for just a few dollars.
Email required Address never made public. Often Eico custom made the face plates with the name of the school.
After verifying the schematics, the first test was the tube test, with just the heater power. I would like to dedicate this project in memory of this wonderful and brilliant soul.

They say nobody usually comes for those stuffs anymore. On the other end of the spectrum, I read on the Internet that someone purchased one of these new from Radio Shack in ’73; so, if that’s true, that means this tester was in production for at least close to 20 years. I credit this addiction to Paul of Mr.

These models use a balanced bridge that measures capacitance from 10mmf up to mf and resistance from 0. I was able to remove most of it with rubbing alcohol and elbow grease. I had a hard time getting those film caps but managed to get them finally. For me 95b hardest part is getting high voltage wax capacitor replacements like 1. I replaced 3 capacitors 2 didn’t. I wish I had come across this valuable article before.
I also used a bleeder resistor to discharge the electrolytics. Electrical voltages are present and represent a danger. Eicoo You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. From date codes, this unit was made in ’63; but, it seems that eici model was made for many years.
