Having once waded through a very substantial number of these examples myself, I can only say that they are not easy to deal with. After a while you will find it time saving enough to memorize the youeself.
The troublesome examples One problem is that, in general, the examples in the book are not easy to follow. I found Coulson’s “Sanskrit” a wonderful book, dense with information.
This makes it impossible for the student to predict what kind of answer is expected. However, Coulson admits that his usage-centered treatment of Sanskrit leaves less very little room for the basic paradigms of verbs and nouns: Good one, for D.

Since Coulson does not always give clear instructions to the student what sansorit exercise is in the first place, in terms of sentence construction passive, active, nominal, etc.

It is not always clear which he wants: See and discover other items: Overall, I believe Coulson has made a significantly useful and original, albeit not easily accessible contribution to Sanskrit scholarship.
But the problems with the exercises do not stop there. There are many reasons why this is not a good introductory text. As Coulson so rightly points out in the Preface p.
It also presents numerous passages of original Sanskrit writing. Jamie R rated it it was amazing Nov 24, Teach Yourself David A. However, I would not recommend this as a volume for individual study unless you are very confident; works brilliantly alongside more modern text books, though.
NOTE 1 – Starting with Chapter 6, all sentences are from original sanskrit literature mostly classic drama. Overall, the book is helpful and it has proved valuable in my making rapid progress with Sanskrit, but I stress that this couldon has come in conjunction with regular meetings with a PhD supervisor fluent in Sanskrit who can address things omitted from the book.
However the title “Teach Yourself” is a misnomer: Extensive exercises so readers can review what they have learned An overview of the culture surrounding the language, giving travelers and students an understanding of how it is used in saanskrit Expertise from authors with strong scholarship in each language.
