Oops, I got a bit carried away. Sorry about that . The only book here that I referenced which directly relates to the GPCR is "Away With All Pests". William Hinton did write "The Hundred Day War" which chronicled the GPCR and some of the things that happened at one of China's premier schools, Tsinhua University during that period. Lois Wheeler Snow who is Edgar Snow's widow, wrote a book about some of the changes that occurred in theater called, "China on Stage" which also covered some of the changes in art and theatre during that period. Unfortunately, these books are probably out of print and may only be available in libraries.

Hi Don:
This is a wonderful site in development. A couple of other books to add to the list is:
Red Star Over China by Edgar Snow,China Shakes the World by Jack Belden,Battle Hymn of China by Agnes Smedley,When the Serfs Stood Up in Tibet by Anna Louise Strong- although this book may be out of print. Also William Hinton's last book Through a Glass Darkly:American Views of the Chinese Revolution is also an important book to list.Joshua Horns' book, Away With All Pests- which is out of print, but it is an invaluable book which chronicles the changes in the lives of Chinese people since the revolution, particularly on the question of public health and how even further changes and advances were made in that sphere during the much maligned Cultural Revolution.

Raymond Lotta sounds like he is ready to straighten out some misconceptions! If the event he is talking about is the one on Oct. 8th at the UC Berkeley campus, I'll be there. If that's not the one please let me know the details. This video was a little distracting because the graphics and the audio were off. I will try going to the you-tube link and see if the same problem exists. This guy seems very interesting and wise, as are most Revolutionary Communists I've met! Sounds like he has some great info and insight.

Great to hear you loved the new website Mike. I know you are very well networked person. I am really interested in hearing what you think about you personally using that website and the four short video clips to let people know about the work of Bob Avakian, Revolution Newspaper, building for Revolution in the USA and setting the record straight with folks about Revolutionary Communism. Getting this all into people's hands all across this country is the point of this campaign.

<a href="http://revolutiontalk.net/info/spread-revolution/" rel="nofollow">revolutiontalk.net/info/spread-revolution</a>

It would be very helpful to get your thoughts here (for and against) on you personally bringing this to folks you know (talking here publicly to the degree possible for you). For example, I am going to try to use this blog and my Facebook page to contact people from my past maybe even from before high school...since that is part of the Facebook phenomenon. And, I have talked and written to you some about some ideas and intentions to work on building for a Revolutionary support group for friends and families of drug addicts. Even simple examples of one online contact would be cool.

I loved the answer Bob gave to that first question! Very funny how he approached it, yet very awesome answer. I feel if we lived in a better world, we wouldn't need the constant relief many now need. By the way, I love that new website, "Revolution Talk"!

LONDON — Tens of thousands of Irish children were sexually, physically and emotionally abused by nuns, priests and others over 60 years in a network of church-run residential schools meant to care for the poor, the vulnerable and the unwanted, according to a report released in Dublin on Wednesday.

At church-run institutions in Ireland, like St. Joseph’s Industrial School, above, in an undated photo, and the Letterfrack Industrial School, below, in a photo from the late 19th or early 20th century, children were sexually, physically and emotionally abused by nuns, priests and others from the 1930s to the 1990s, according to a report released in Dublin on Wednesday.

The Letterfrack Industrial School, in a photo from the late 19th or early 20th century.
The 2,600-page report paints a picture of institutions run more like Dickensian orphanages than 20th-century schools, characterized by privation and cruelty that could be both casual and choreographed.
“A climate of fear, created by pervasive, excessive and arbitrary punishment, permeated most of the institutions,” the report says. In the boys’ schools, it says, sexual abuse was “endemic.”
