Climbing High: A Woman’s Account of Surviving the Everest Tragedy by Lene Gammelgaard

If you’re looking for more of an overview of all participants and the event from all angles, omniscient styleI recommend: Write a customer review. They either disappeared on the mountain or were later discovered frozen to death. If you are going to read one book about this Everest climbing tragedy read Jon Krakauer’s account instead.

Climbing High is a fairly basic account of the Mount Kdakauer tragedy written by a member of Scott Fischer’s expedition. English Choose a language for shopping. This book is nothing like “Into Thin Air” which was a really good, gripping tale of the Everest Tragedy. Gammelgaard was a close friend of Fisher’s, and I did enjoy learning more about him through her account. Felt cold-hearted not to mention the others who died, perhaps in an epilogue. It’s a shame that this isn’t that book.

Gammelgaard also writes movingly of Everest’s awesome beauty; of the passion and commitment required to face the daunting challenge of climbing to high altitudes; and of the complex personal relationships forged in the pursuit of such dangerous ventures.
This is her kdakauer of the events of that terrible trek. It was lazily written – much barely edited journal writings.
