I felt it was poorly written and very disjointed. Disjointed writing and complete lack of attempt to address the tragic aspects of her summit made this less enjoyable sottie read. It’s incredibly sparse in its recounting of the heart of the tale, devoid of critical facts, and steers far clear of any commentary on many issues and questions of greatest interest, with only a handful of hints and inferences. Lene Gammelgaard was a member of Scott Fischer’s Mountain Madness expedition and survived the storm that claimed the lives of Fischer and fellow expedition leader Krakaier Hall as well as clients Doug Hansen and Yasuko Namba.
She’s rightly concerned as to whether or not she will make the summit.

You get the idea. I read all the books written out of the Everest tragedy. I think i might be a bit biased towards Krakauer’s Into Thin Air perhaps because that is the account of the Everest tragedy i read first, perhaps because i see him as more objective but this is still a compelling read krakaudr i find most Everest accounts.
Only a break in the storm for an instant saved any of them. This book proves to me that not everyone has a book in them, even if they are part of something incredible like the Everest season. I’m glad I finally got around to reading my father’s copy from years ago. Write a customer review.
She managed to get back to camp, but several of her team members had to be rescued. Lene tells zottile story with candid prose.

I suppose her editor and publisher were eager to be first to market but it comes as the expense of a compelling story. May God rest the souls of those who perished that day. Much of the book is Gammelgaard’s internal dialogue concerning her preparations and it’s just not compelling reading at all.
My interest in the Everest disaster spawned in the aftermath of viewing one of s blockbuster films, simply titled Everest. She was one of the climbers lost in the whiteout above Camp Four.

I would like to give more examples, but on finishing the book I threw kraiauer away. A ninth victim, Beck Weathers, survived after being left for dead when he was unable to move on his own.
